(Monrovia, November 26, 2017)-The Press Union of Liberia has set Monday, November 27, 2017 for the release of its first Media Alert Report.

The Media Alert Program gathers information relating to threats and attacks on journalists and other actors on account of speech or related journalistic activities.

The PUL has been following up the causes of such attacks, and the feedbacks and responses by government and related authorities.  

The Media Alert Report will contain sections covering two quarters of attacks tracking on journalists, media institutions and the general free press climate in Liberia.

Those expected to grace the release of the report Monday in Monrovia include Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman, USAID Program Officer in charge of Democracy and Governance, April O’Neil and Internews Chief of Party, Jan MacArthur.

Documentations of attacks on journalists, media workers and institutions through the Media Alert Program at the PUL are part of the ongoing Liberia Media Development being managed by Internews with funding from USAID.

The two quarterly reports will provide an update on how many attacks media workers and institutions in Liberia suffered during the reporting period, from April 10, 2017 - the official setting up of the Media Alert Office to September, 2017.

A Press Union of Liberia release calls on media institutions, journalists and the public to grace the occasion beginning at 11:30am tomorrow, Monday at its Headquarters on Clay Street.
